CAPEL HISTORY TRAIL
No. 5 - Five Oak Green Garage and A. Bishop and Son

These pictures show that Five Oak Green had two garages almost opposite each other both owned by Alfred Horace Bishop. Five Oak Green Garage was opposite the Queens Head, whilst on the other side of the road next to The Hoppers was A Bishop & Son. Five Oak Green Garage repaired cars and had petrol pumps on site. A Bishop & Son carried out repairs to tractors and agriculture machinery.
The white weatherboarded building on the left looks much the same today. Over the years it has seen many changes of use. When the picture was taken the building was occupied by PawMits, a pet food supplier.
A Bishop & Son was demolished in the late 1990's and a row of four cottages built shortly after known as Oak Tree Cottages.
