CAPEL HISTORY TRAIL
No. 12 - Diamond House & The Forge

Built in the first part of the 19th century, The Forge was a white weatherboarded workshop. It was a thriving wheelwrights and blacksmiths for many years. Diamond House, butting up to The Forge and a row of cottages were also built around the same period.
The bottom picture - likely taken a little after the Second World War -shows that The Forge was replaced by what is now the entrance to Forge Close in 1996. As you will notice, a phone box was conveniently sited close to the village green.
