CAPEL HISTORY TRAIL
No. 10 - Rose Cottages

Built in the early 1800's these two cottages originally named 1 and 2 Rose Cottages were a traditional two up and two down with a separate toilet situated at the bottom of the garden. A well in the garden provided fresh water. The 1891 census shows that William Fever lived at number 1 with his wife and three children. His brother Robert lived next door at number 2 with his wife and another family of three. The front room of the house on the left was used as a doctor's surgery. The picture taken c1905 shows residents posing outside.
The property was modernised in the 1970's and converted into one house being renamed as Carrott Cottage.
